Susana Spandier, Senior Consultant

Susana Spandier is an educator and trainer with more than twenty years of experience in teaching school-age learners, young adults, and teachers themselves. Her teaching career began early in her life when, as a member of the company of the National Ballet of Canada, she ran her own classical ballet school. She subsequently chose to specialize in the educational field, adding a Cambridge University teaching qualification to her Diploma in Theatre and Dance (Ryerson University) and BA in Physiology (Dalhousie). She has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) both overseas and in Canada, as well as business and computer education and orientation programs for newcomers to Canada.

Susana directed course curriculum and teachers at Harborside College, Vancouver, and Richmond International High School and College, for several years. She has also trained high school teachers on the use of classroom language instructional technology and developed proprietary curriculum for private language school companies in Korea, Japan and China.

From 2008 to 2012, Susana took a hiatus from curriculum and teaching work to operate a service business providing transportation, casework management, social support and caregiving to seniors and people with disabilities in the Vancouver area. This work led her to also volunteer as a support group leader with the Alzheimer’s Society of BC. In 2013 she returned to the educational field, and has recently conducted teacher trainer and curriculum development for schools, literacy projects and public health initiatives in Lesotho, Uganda and Jamaica.
